History

A French Heritage Since 1918

Since its earliest inception, Le Kasha has answered the call to travel and adventure, to freedom and grace. Founded in France in 1918, Le Kasha was part of a revolution in the way the women of the 1920s dressed. An innovative fabric made with Kashmir goat hair blended with a revolutionary new fibre, here was a textile that was effortlessly elegant, as comfortable as it was easy to care for.

For the Postwar era, when women were abandoning corsetry for clothes that allowed greater freedom of movement, Le Kasha provided the perfect answer. This flowing and comfortable textile captured the mood of liberation. Notable for the beautiful way it draped, Le Kasha was supplied to prestigious French Haute Couture houses such as Jeanne Lanvin and Jean Patou. In the 1920s Coco Channel cemented Le Kasha's reputation forever, when she used it to create her first suit collection.

Almost a full century later, in 2016 Le Kasha relaunched. Updating this timeless textile for a new era, Le Kasha’s Cachemire de Voyage is also complemented with collections in pure silk and linen: all-natural, organic textiles. Designed to be infinitely combined, and suitable for any occasion – from the desert to the beach, via the airport and the art fair, Le Kasha is a luxury lifestyle brand for a new era.

Le Kasha

A new chapter

"Throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
Henry David Thoreau

Mali Marciano was born in Paris into a family that had long specialised in knitwear. As a child exploring factories with her father all over the world, she developed a passion for travel from an early age. Her curiosity for cashmere was piqued as she learned about the material first hand.

After graduating from business school, she plotted a course across the hotel and knitwear industries, dividing her life between Paris, New York, and London, while also indulging her passion for travel by exploring some of the furthest flung corners of the world.

Mali’s experience has given her an understanding of the importance of catering for the lifestyle needs of people who travel often and care about quality and functionality. In reviving the story of Le Kasha, she brings together her family heritage, her knowledge of knitwear and her passion for travel with a spirit of escapism and adventure.

Cachemire de Voyage was Mali’s first collection as she relaunched Le Kasha as a lifestyle brand in 2016. A complete and timeless pure cashmere wardrobe, it would mark the start of Le Kasha's new journey...

Cachemire de Voyage

Pure Cashmere Collection

"Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it or not."
Henry David Thoreau

Le Kasha's mission is to make beautiful, timeless pure cashmere clothing suitable for every place and every season.

Made from pure, organic cashmere fibre sourced from the Alashan and Arbus regions of Inner Mongolia, a region widely acknowledged for producing the finest quality cashmere in the world, Cachemire de Voyageis Le Kasha’s signature collection.

Combining clean lines, light fabrics and neutral tones to create a relaxed and functional elegance that can be dressed up or down for any occasion, anywhere in the world, the Cachemire de Voyagecollection is a complete wardrobe.

Evoking the romance of travel in a beautiful, universal and refined look that season-to-season, day-to-night, you will want to keep close and take everywhere, each piece is as long-lasting as it is soft, the perfect fabric for the world's wanderer.

TISSU DE CACHEMIRE

Le Kasha new cashmere woven collection

Complementing the signature collection, Le Kasha’s Tissu de Cachemire is woven from pure cashmere yarn for the utmost softness, comfort and resistance. Using the highest quality Italian fabric, the collection is produced locally in Le Kasha’s Paris atelier.

Tissu de Cachemire is a capsule wardrobe in itself: each of the highly sophisticated, yet relaxed separates is designed to be combined endlessly – not only with the other items in the collection, but also with the signature Cachemire de Voyage pieces, and – for a beautiful textural contrast, the Soie de Voyage collection.

SOIE DE VOYAGE

Pure silk collection

Alongside cashmere – with which it combines so perfectly - silk is possibly the most practical and beautiful textile to journey with. History would agree: silk is one of the ancient world’s most well-travelled and luxurious materials. A sign of wealth, Asian nobility preferred it to gold. Strong yet light, silk has fascinated entire empires, from the Chinese to the Romans and the Ottomans.

In many ways, it is a thread that connects the designers of today with the ancient camel caravans of Asia. Bolts and rolls were traded along desert routes from Xi’an in the east across Persia and Byzantium to the silk weavers and ateliers of Venice, Flanders and Paris.

Designed and made in Paris, with the purest fabric from Italy, the elegant Le Kasha Soie de Voyagecollection uses only high-quality and natural materials; pure silk, real fresh water pearls, Le Kasha old coins...

This collection forms a bridge between Le Kasha’s linen and cashmere lines. Both are inspired by Asia and the Middle East, two regions which are themselves connected by the Silk Road – the Route de la Soie– of history. Light as air, fluid as water, versatile as the seasons, the Soie and the Cachemnire de Voyage collections are designed to complement each other and be combined: wear them on their own or together, everywhere and at any time.

Lin de Voyage

Pure Linen Collection

Linen textiles are to be some of the oldest and noble in the world: their history goes back many thousands of years.

From as far back as 8000 BC, archaeologists have uncovered fragments of straw, seeds, fibres, yarns, and various types of natural fabrics. In Ancient Egypt linen was sometimes used as a form of currency, while mummies were wrapped in the textile as a symbol of light and purity.

It’s from Egypt that Le Kasha draws inspiration for the 'Lin de Voyage' collection. Using the highest quality, crease-resistant, organic, Italian linen, it is a complete wardrobe for an endless and eternal summer, wherever in the world you might find it. Dresses for the longest days and epic summer nights, head-turning pieces and simple, light-as-a-breeze wraps and skirts, each piece in the Lin de Voyage collection is designed and produced locally in Le Kasha’s Paris atelier.

Reconnecting with the origins of the fabric, the collection evokes the feel and the mystery of the desert, in a sand-swept, sun-soaked palette of light and minimal shade. Accented with bespoke, Le Kasha gold buttons, reminiscent of ancient gold coins, Lin de Voyage is the summer staple.
