Tea in Tangier by Olivier Kervern
Tea in Tanger is a photographic series by Olivier Kervern created for Le Kasha under the artistic direction of Buero Paris studio.
Through quiet, intimate images of Tangier, the series captures fragments of the city ,its light, its faded walls, its streets and suspended moments.
Tangier has long inspired writers, artists and travelers. The city echoes the atmosphere of The Sheltering Sky (1949), inspired by Paul Bowles’ novel , a film that inspires Mali, founder of Le Kasha.
Like a pause for tea, these photographs invite us to slow down and observe a place where cultures meet. Tangier, long a crossroads between continents, carries the spirit of the Silk Road, a meeting point between worlds where time seems to unfold differently.
“Tangier is amongst those most romantic cities, by
name alone. Like Valparaiso, or Khartoum, to name a few. But it is also a city
beloved by writers. It is a city where all you need to do is sit and watch, and
you nearly have the impression that you are a part of it. It’s very soft. When
I arrive in a city for the first time like I did here, I am always a bit
distant, a bit far, yet little by little allow myself closer to its people and
its reality.”
